You can ask any person on the street what is the best day of a person’s life and chances are they’ll say their wedding day. With all the planning, time and money that goes into this single greatest day it’s no surprise that sometimes the big day can turn out to be more stressful than perfect. If you’re looking to make sure your wedding day is a success, then read our tips below!
Tip #1. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep the night before your big day
While this may seem like a no brainer, it can actually be hard to do. Friends and family, many of whom of traveled in for your wedding, often want to stay up and celebrate with you the night before. If you don’t protect your time carefully some of these pre-wedding parties can go on late into the night. Many brides will schedule their bachelorette party a week or two ahead of their wedding to avoid staying up too late before their big day. Your excitement alone will make it hard to sleep, but by giving yourself a peaceful environment with lots of time for rest will go a long ways.
Tip #2. Hire a wedding planner or designate a friend to be the one in charge on your big day
It is important to have someone at the wedding who can ensure everything is going according to plan. All too often no one person is given the job of overseeing the day and problems often follow. Make sure whomever you ask to oversee your wedding that you meet with them in advance, make your wishes known and provide detailed instructions to make it easy on them.
Tip #3. Designate as much as possible to others
Keep the do it yourself projects to minimum, especially as the wedding draws close. Often brides on a budget try to do too much themselves in effort to cut down on costs. These do-it-yourselfers can up end up stressed out and unhappy instead of feeling radiant on their wedding day. The better plan is to hire professionals or enlist the help of eager family and friends to help with the preparations.
Tip #4. Use an organizer for the wedding.
Writing everything down either in a paper organizer or electronically will really help with keeping everything organized. I recommended keeping it by your bed to capture those thoughts that so often run through our heads at night. Having a Pinterest wedding board for ideas is great, but having something to record inspirations, thoughts and check lists will help you ensure you have a good grasp on how everything is progressing.
Tip #5. Expect that something, somewhere is going to go wrong on the big day
If you know that it is a possibility you will be more likely to just let it go and enjoy your special day. I know of no bride that says their wedding day went off 100% perfect. Even the most organized wedding is likely to have something go awry. Just take a deep breath and enjoy it because at the end of the day you will still be marrying the man of your dreams.
